Frequently Asked Questions
What precautions do you take to ensure safety at First Dental?
At First Dental in Sugar Land, we strictly follow the guidelines set by OSHA and the Centers for Disease Control. Our precautions include disinfecting our treatment rooms after each patient visit; sterilizing our reusable instruments in an autoclave, then securely sealing them until the next use; and using disposable products whenever possible. For your safety, Dr. Imrek and our dental team always wear disposable gloves during treatment and exams.
I don’t like the sound or feel of dental drills. Are there any other options for my dental care?
Yes! We are proud to use Kinetic Cavity Preparation (KCP), an effective and comfortable alternative to traditional dental drills. The KCP uses a stream of tiny abrasive particles and air to whisk away tooth decay. Because the KCP emits no noise, heat, or vibration (the pain-causing factors associated with a dental drill) most patients don’t even need local anesthetic to be completely comfortable.
I haven’t been to the dentist in years, and I’m ashamed of the condition of my mouth. Is your staff judgmental?
Congratulations on your decision to seek dental healthcare! At First Dental in Sugar Land, we’ll never judge you. We’ll simply help you by diagnosing your oral health problems, explaining all of your treatment options, and the creating a treatment plan that fits your oral health needs, your schedule, and your budget.
What are one-visit crowns?
One-visit crowns are exactly that – crowns that require just one visit to design, mill, and place. Using the innovative CEREC technology, we can create tooth-colored and durable custom crowns as well as inlays and onlays in just over an hour. That means no temporary and no follow-up visit. It really is that simple!
How does Dr. Imrek keep up-to-date on current technology, techniques, and materials in dentistry?
Dr. Imrek, as well as the other members of our dental team, stays in the know by taking more than the state’s requirement for continuing education classes each year. We also frequently attend professional association meetings, read trade journals, and do everything possible to learn about the latest developments in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, family dentistry, and dental technology. We’re passionate about dentistry, so we love soaking up new information and sharing it with you!
Is professional teeth whitening safe?
Of course! While you may not know it, teeth whitening, in one form or another, has been around since the eighteenth century. Our modern whitening systems use effective and safe bleaching gel to gently wipe away tooth stains and discolorations. At First Dental, you can choose from Zoom whitening and convenient take-home whitening kits.
What’s the difference between porcelain and composite veneers?
Advantages of porcelain are you have a natural looking tooth that will not stain over time and last many years. This does involve the removal of some tooth structure. They are usually a bit more expensive. Composite veneers is a natural tooth material nano composite that does not involve the removal of tooth structure and can be easily repaired and done in one visit. Dr. Imrek guarantees his porcelain veneers for life.
