There are many advantages to tooth-colored restorations. Resin onlays are bonded to the teeth creating a tight, superior fit to the natural tooth. Such restorations can be used in instances where much of the tooth structure has been lost. The tooth remains intact and stronger.

Since the resin used in tooth-colored restorations contains fluoride, this can help prevent decay. The resin wears like natural teeth and does not require placement at the gum line, which is healthier for your gums!

Replacing Silver Fillings with a Tooth Colored Restoration

During air abrasion, a fine stream of particles is aimed at the stained or decayed portion of the tooth, and uses pressure to clear away impurities on its surface. Air abrasion is a very safe dental solution.

Here at First Dental in Sugar Land, we use the KCP 1000 for our air abrasion dentistry. The KCP 1000 allows us to treat decay as small as a grain of sand early while preserving as much healthy tooth material as possible. Teeth treated this way may be less likely to require crowns in the future. The procedure requires less heat and vibration than a dental drill, and can be used with little or no anesthesia. The KCP 1000 is also useful in other common procedures such as bonding, veneers, inlays and onlays.
